TSNIGRI RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DIAMOND PROSPECTING FOCUS IN RUSSIA

LOCALIZATION OF PROSPECTIVE DIAMOND AREAS (PROVINCES, SUBPROVINCES AND DISTRICTS) BASED ON COMPLEXING GEOLOGICAL AND GEOPHYSICAL PRECONDITIONS

PRIMARY DIAMOND PROSPECTING AND EVALUATION WITHIN KELIMYARSKAYA AREA (REPUBLIC OF SAKHA (YAKUTIA))

Based on the results of TsNIGRI works as part of the federal program, Triassic diamond deposit prospecting in the northern Olenek rise (Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)), prioritized licensing areas were identified. Primary diamond prospecting and evaluation works were drafted for JSC Rosgeology which obtained a geological study license. The work project is based on the federal program work results listed below.

1:200 000 diamond potential forecast map of the northern Olenek rise was compiled.

Potential discovery of Triassic kimberlite-type primary diamond deposits in the Yakutian Arctic zone, a potential source of the so called “northern” diamond (Ebelyakh-type) high-grade placers, was validated.

Kelimyarskoye diamondiferous kimberlite field was localized. Verkhnenikabytsky group of diamondiferous bodies was localized within it.

Two kimberlite pipe craters were opened within this group. Their Early Mesozoic age was dated.

Verkhnenikabytsky group is associated with a high-grade (Ebelyakh-type) diamond placer, Nikabyt river valley, and a diamond placer in Upper Triassic Rhaetian offshore deposits (Bulunkan series).

Recommendations were given for the kimberlite pipe vent opening and their diamond potential evaluation (inferred category).

Recommendations for primary Ebelyakh-type diamond source forecasting and prospecting were developed.

Verkhnenikabytsky group primary diamond resources were estimated and approved (78 Mct, potential)as well as those of Nikabyt river valley (1,190,000 m3 of sands, 797,300 ct, inferred; 2,604,000 m3 of sands, 677,040 ct, potential; 5,879,000 m3 of sands, 940,640 ct, undiscovered).
