PROSPECTING FOR GOLD-POLYMETALLIC MINERALIZATION WITHIN ARGUN MINERAGENIC ZONE

Argun mineragenic zone (MZ) is among the oldest mining districts of the East Trans-Baikal area; TsNIGRI performed metallogenic zoning over an extensive area (>11,000 km2) identifying ore districts and clusters, they were ranked by prospectivity.

For detalization purposes, prospective areas (ore fields) were recognized in GIS format within ore districts and clusters based on standard models and maps analysis.

Within Argun MZ, Middle to Upper Jurassic terrigenous-volcanogenic and Vendian-Cambrian carbonate-terrigenous deposits are ore-bearing (ore-hosting), they are prospective for pyrite-polymetallic mineralization in sedimentary-volcanogenic rocks (Noyon-Tologoi type) and lead-zinc-pyrite mineralization in terrigenous-carbonate rocks (Argun type).
