Rudy i Metally (Ores and Metals) journal was founded on December 21, 1992, to operatively propagate information and create an information base on fundamental and applied studies in ore deposits, mineral resources, techniques and methods of geological exploration, economy of mineral resources, market situation in Russia and abroad, achievement in research and development, and marketing.

Authors of the journal are researchers from R&D institutions and universities, mining companies, and staff members of the national geological service branches.Geologists from all Russia, as well as specialists from Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Israel cooperate with Rudy i Metally. The journal publishes information on the All-Russia geological congresses, conferences and seminars concerning issues in academic and practical geology, as well as official governmental information on the subsoil use. Special FSUE TsNIGRI jubilee issues cover major activity directions of the institute. Memorial issues of the journal comprise results of creative activities of prominent geologists. Special issues disclose mineral potential of the Russian mining regions, e.g., Komi Republic and South Siberia.

Rudy i Metally is on the List of Peer-Reviewed Journals officially approved by the national Higher Attestation Commission; the list comprises the journals where key scientific results of the Candidate and Doctor theses are to be published.
