Ethical principles of «RUDY I METALLY» («ORES AND METALS») editorial board

In accordance and compliance with the ethical rules and regulations adopted by the leading international scientific publishers and the Declaration by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Editorial Board of «Rudy i Metally» («Ores and Metals») has established the Ethical Guidelines that shall be mandatorily observed by all participants of the process of publication of scientific articles – Authors, Reviewers, members of the Editorial Board, Lead Editors, and Publisher.

    The Editorial Board:
  • adopts equity, politeness, honesty and transparency as the basic principles in cooperation with authors;
  • pursues independent policy of selection and publication of study materials;
  • ensures the compliance of scientific materials preparation for issue with the international ethical principles;
  • makes constant efforts to improve the journal, closely cooperates with authors and reviewers to ensure its high quality;
  • while deciding on the paper acceptance (nonacceptance) for publication, its importance, relevance, originality and novelty are considered;
  • guarantees the possibility of publishing materials reflecting various points of view;
  • guarantees that no financial interests may affect the level of requirements to the materials submitted.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

1.1. When submitting an article for review by the Editorial Board, authors confirm that the submitted article is not under review in any another journal and that it has not been published before.

1.2. Authors shall be responsible for the content of the article. The papers should present entirely original scientific data. In case of citations from other researchers, appropriate references should be provided.

1.3. Authors shall be responsible for conscious or unconscious plagiarism. Unauthorized reproduction of any elements of articles (texts, graphics, source data, etc.) is absolutely unacceptable. If the authors have used the work and/or words of others, such elements should be appropriately cited/quoted and accompanied by a corresponding reference.

1.4. Authors shall be responsible for provision of information about sources of financial support for the proposed article and names of persons who facilitated the research.

1.5. Should Author find a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal’s Editor or Publisher and cooperate with the Editor to retract or correct the published paper. If the Editor or Publisher is advised by a third party that a published work contains a significant error and informs Author about such a lapse, it is the obligation of the author to promptly respond with a correct version or provide evidence to the Editor of the correctness of data in his/her paper.

1.6. Author may initiate publication of his/her article, which has been already published in the native language, in translation. Such cases shall be subject to special consideration by the Editorial Board, pending mandatory performance of ethical duties by all the parties involved.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

2.1. The Editorial Board of “Ores and Metals” accepts for review the articles that have not been published yet, present original research results or detailed reviews of subjects pertaining to the research disciplines covered by the journal.

2.2. Editors check articles for plagiarism including self-citation. If any previously published paper is detected, which repeats over 75% of results contained in the article being reviewed, the Editorial Board reserves the right to refuse authors to publish the latter.

2.3. Scientific value of the article, its importance for scientific progress and the quality of its presentation shall be the key basis for decision making on acceptance/nonacceptance of the article for publication.

2.4. Editors and members of the Editorial Board have no right to disclose information about any papers received for review to anybody, except for a few persons who are directly related to the article and its processing for publication.

2.5. While reviewing the articles, Editors get familiarized in details of the original data contained in the submitted papers. Under any circumstances they shall not be allowed to use this information in any of their own research projects or for any personal purposes. Using such information shall be permitted only after the official publication of the article and observation of the rules of correct citation in accordance with generally accepted standards.

2.6. Under any circumstances Editors shall not impose authors to cite any papers published in “Ores and Metals” as to take attempts at facilitating higher scientometric indicators of the journal.

2.7. Editors shall ensure proper control and accuracy of citations and references in articles approved for publication.

2.8. Editors shall evaluate scientific papers for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

2.9. While transferring an article received by the Editorial Board to Reviewers, Editors may offer them a special form (questionnaire) with a list of typical questions facilitating comprehensive characterization of the article and subsequent decision by the Editorial Board on its publication advisability.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

3.1. All the articles submitted to the Editorial Board are subject to mandatory peer-review process. Reviewing of articles in “Ores and Metals” is open and/or anonymous.

3.2. Reviewers shall not disclose to unauthorized persons information about articles submitted for review.

3.3. Before the article is published, under any circumstances Reviewers do not have the right to use in their own research or for other personal purposes the information to which they have access in the process of reviewing.

3.4. Reviewers should conduct scientific reviews of the papers within the timeline advised by the Editorial Board (one month). If Reviewer fails to complete the review within the specified period, he/she should immediately inform the Editorial Office.

3.5. In the course of reviewing the papers, Reviewers shall strive for maximum objectivity. The only criterion when assessing the article is its scientific significance. Any decisions based on personal preferences of Reviewers are not permitted. If there is a conflict of interests or there may be a conflict in any form between Reviewer and Author, Reviewer shall be obliged to immediately inform the Editorial Board and abandon the review.

4. Conflict of interest

All the interested parties shall do their best to avoid any conflicts of interests in any form at all the stages of preparation of papers for publication. Should a conflict of interests in any form take place, the person who first noted such a conflict should immediately inform the Editorial Board about it. The same applies to any violations of generally accepted ethical rules and standards.
