As part of the Intergovernmental Russian-Sudanese Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, representatives of the Sudanese state-owned Geological Survey visited TsNIGRI and attended the first youth science and education conference, "Diamond, precious and base metal mineral base – from forecasting to production". This visit provided a new impetus to the development of bilateral Russian-Sudanese relations in geology and subsurface mining.

Mahamoud Mohamed Khames Adam and Waddah Abdalwali Saeed Mohamed, representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Sudan, made their presentations, "Industrial Minerals in Sudan and Investment Opportunities" and "Geophysical Investigation of the Iron Ore Deposit using Self Potential and Ground Magnetic Method in Jabal Al-Hadeed, West-Atabra", respectively. When all other presentations were made and discussions closed, they highly appreciated the conference and expressed their willingness for further scientific cooperation and the desire to participate in the future similar events organized by TsNIGRI.

At the end of the conference, A.I. Chernykh, General Director of TsNIGRI, held a work meeting with the guests. The meeting discussed the issues of interaction and mutual interests in geology and subsurface minng in Russian-Sudanese relations.
