FSBI TsNIGRI at Bekzhanov readings
FSBI TsNIGRI experts took part in Bekzhanov readings, which were held on September 19-20, 2019 in Almaty as an international scientific and practical conference, "Scientific, technological and information support of Kazakhstan subsurface assessment".
S.S. Zharkeshov, Vice-Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, A.A. Nadyrbayev, Chairman of the Geology Committee of Kazakhstan Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources, B.S. Uzhkenov, President of the Kazakhstan Academy of Mineral Resources, G.Zh. Zholtaev, General Director of Kazakhstan Geoscience Institute, A.I. Chernykh, General Director of FSBI TsNIGRI and O.V. Petrov, General Director of FSBI VSEGEI addressed the attendants.
Bekzhanov readings program included presentations by FSBI TsNIGRI experts: V.S. Zvezdov, head of the Department of metallogeny ("Porphyry-type ore-magmatic systems: formation conditions and forecast criteria of major and giant porphyry copper deposits") and V.V. Kuznetsov, head of the Department of base metals (co-authored with T.V. Seravina) ("Polymetallic deposit forecasting and prospecting technique").
The conference was held at K.I. Satpayev Geoscience Institute of Kazakhstan. It was attended by geologists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Germany, Ukraine and other countries.
Bekzhanov readings are dedicated to Professor G.R. Bekzhanov (1927-2015), an outstanding Kazakh geologist. In 2019, the conference was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The conference participants discussed the important issues such as new mineragenic concepts, ideas, knowledge and their impact on subsurface assessment; selection, acquisition, preservation and value of information to assess subsurface for ore and hydrocarbon minerals; methods and technologies of data conversion for its use in subsurface assessment for ore and hydrocarbon minerals.
25 oral and a number of poster presentations on geology, metallogeny and mineralogy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries were made at the conference. The conference was attended by representatives of various Kazakh companies (JSC Kazgeology, AMR RK and LLP Kazzarubezhgeology) and other research institutes and public organizations.
During the discussion, the scientists focused on exploration digitalization problems, new mineral types (in particular, rare-earth elements), validation of technologies and equipment selection, as well as a comparison of prospecting and exploration costs. The roundtable, "Transformation and management of geological exploration to improve subsurface assessment efficiency: synthesis of social, public and business interests", was held as part of the conference.
